Batch 001 · Jorhat, Assam
kazzi is a prebiotic lemon soda brewed with hand-picked Assam kaji nemu — 3 g of plant fibre, 25 calories and a citrus snap sharp enough to wake up an afternoon.

330 ml
chilled, over ice
Why kazzi
We started with one question: why does every drink that's good for your gut taste like a compromise? Six ingredients later, here's what's in the can.
Chicory root inulin and green banana starch pass through undigested and feed the bacteria in your lower gut. That's the whole point of a prebiotic soda.
Assam's kaji nemu is thin-skinned, intensely aromatic and sharper than a Eureka lemon. We cold-press the juice within 24 hours of picking so the top notes survive.
The sweetness comes from the fruit itself plus a whisper of monk fruit extract. No sucralose, no aspartame, no cane sugar added at any stage.
Sparkling water, kaji nemu juice, chicory root inulin, green banana starch, pink salt, monk fruit. If it isn't on that list, it isn't in the can.
Fine, tight carbonation held at 3.4 volumes — bright on the first sip and still lively at the bottom of the glass, over ice or straight from the can.
We buy direct from smallholder groves in Upper Assam at an agreed floor price, and ship in infinitely recyclable aluminium rather than plastic.
Three flavours
Every flavour starts from the same cold-pressed kaji nemu base, then takes one ingredient further. Batch 001 ships as a mixed twelve-can crate.
The straight one
Pure cold-pressed kaji nemu, sparkling water and a pinch of pink salt. Sour-forward, faintly floral, finishes clean.
The warm one
Fresh-pressed ginger steeped for six hours, then blended with kaji nemu. A slow heat that lands after the citrus.
The green one
Holy basil leaves from the same Jorhat groves, infused cold. Herbal, peppery and unexpectedly refreshing.

Cold-pressed, pulp and all — nothing rebuilt from concentrate.

Our Assam
Almost every home in Upper Assam has a nemu tree by the kitchen door. The fruit is squeezed over rice, into dal, into a glass of cold water on a monsoon afternoon. It never travelled much further than the district market.
kazzi buys that fruit directly from 320 smallholder families at an agreed floor price, presses it in Jorhat within 24 hours of picking, and carbonates it a day later. The lemon does the work — we just get out of its way.

From the tasting panel
Sample quotes shown while we collect reviews from batch 001 crates.
“It tastes like the nimbu paani my grandmother made in Jorhat, except it fizzes. I finished the sample crate in four days.”
“I switched my afternoon cola for kazzi and the 3 pm crash stopped. The sourness is real sourness, not a syrup imitation.”
“Most gut-health drinks taste like a supplement. This one I'd order at a restaurant, which is a much harder thing to pull off.”
Press placeholders — your coverage here
Prebiotics are plant fibres that your body can't digest, so they travel to the lower gut where your bacteria ferment them. Every can of kazzi carries 3 g of them — chicory root inulin plus green banana starch. It's a soda with fibre in it, not a supplement pretending to be a drink.
Kaji nemu is Assam's own lemon (Citrus limon 'Assam'), the state fruit of Assam. It has a thin skin, a heady floral aroma and a sharper acidity than the lemons most sodas use. We buy it from smallholder groves in Upper Assam and cold-press it within a day of picking.
It's sour-forward but balanced — closer to a good lemonade than to neat lemon juice. The pinch of pink salt and a small amount of monk fruit extract round it out, so nobody on our tasting panel reached for sugar.
Around 4 g of sugar, all of it from the fruit itself — we add no cane sugar and no artificial sweeteners. There is no caffeine in any kazzi flavour.
Batch 001 is 5,000 cans, brewed in Jorhat and shipping this autumn to addresses in India and the UK. Waitlist members are offered their crate first and we open the rest of the world with batch 002.
kazzi is vegan, gluten-free and caffeine-free, so it suits most diets. Added fibre can feel like a lot if you're not used to it, so start with one can a day. It's a drink, not a medical product — if you have a health condition, check with your doctor first.
Yes. Aluminium cans are infinitely recyclable, and our shipper cartons are unbleached, glue-free cardboard. There is no plastic anywhere in the pack.
